FAQs

What instruments and skills do you teach?

I teach guitar, bass, and drums, as well as songwriting, music theory, and electronic music production. Across every instrument, we will focus on building strong rhythm, sound technique, improvisation skills, and sustainable practice habits.

What are the practice expectations in the NML program?

Depending on each learner’s needs and goals, practice will be a combination of technical exercises, learning songs, listening and jamming to music, and creative assignments. I encourage students to value consistency and fun above intense practice sessions and make the instrument a daily part of their life. Every student will have a practice chart that I update weekly. With young students, I explain practice expectations to parents at the end of every lesson.

What times of the day/ week do you offer lessons?

While my exact schedule varies, I teach most of my lessons on Sundays throughout the day and weekday afternoons/ evenings. I have midday availability for adults and college students.

Do you work with youth students or adult students?

I seek to teach a mix of students with different ages and experience levels, from 6 year olds just starting guitar to adults with strong fundamentals. I tailor each student’s learning arc based on their goals, prior knowledge, and capacity for practice.

What area of the Twin Cities do you serve?

I am based in South Minneapolis, with most of my clients in Mac-Groveland, Highland Park, Mendota Heights and South Minneapolis. To minimize travel time, I try to arrange my schedule in geographic clusters of multiple students. I also teach virtual lessons to adult students! If you are not located in one of my main areas, let’s chat!

Will you help me purchase an instrument?

Yes! I will make recommendations for entry level instruments and equipment based on each client’s needs and budget. There is no extra charge associated with this support.
